The orthodox churh of Chegea locality was built in 1889 and it was dedicated to Archangels Mihail and Gavril. In 1999 the interior reparations were made and the interior painting was made. Paintors Mihai Pașcariu and his team arrived from Giurtelec, Satu-Mare County.

The works were financed by the village's sons and the 120 families of christians belonging to the orthodox parish of this locality. The two bells from the church's tower and the cross in front of the sanctuary were sent by the emigrants from United States of America.
