Oradea, The Church of the Premonstatense Order
The Premonstatense Order with its seat in Rome had started from Premontre and arrived to Oradea in 1130. The members (the monks) of this order wear white dresses. In Oradea they were recognized for their school. The boy's school by its expectation and preoccupation for the future of the pupils gave result. Many of them graduated at the University of Law at the same order becoming well-known lawyers. In place of their school and university today it is the Mihai Eminescu high school. Besides the school's building there is the Premonstratense Church built between 1740-1760. The church with two towers was planed in Baroque style. The west side of the church is stuck to the building of the monastery. After the break up of the order (1786) the church was used as storehouse for a while as long as in 1808 it got back under the administration of the Premonstratense Order.
