Chieșd, Wooden church

The wooden church from Chiesd was built at the begining of XVII century. It is sad that the church was built at a 300 m distance from the present place and it was moved wooden pillars. The operation lasted two years, meanwhile the holly ceremonies were held in the place where the church was.

The cover of shingle was changed in 1916 with iron. The church's plan is rectangular with semicircular apse. On the provnave the belfry with tarret is rising and four amall towers. The exterior walls and the entrance door's decoraton frame are decoreted with rope's model.

Church' interior was painted in 1796 by Țiple Popa Ioan. In pronave the allegory of the tenth maiden is kept and tracks with Judgement, painting from the nave is erased. On iconostasis apostles' faces and framed paintings can be seen. The royal doors are beautifully decorated.
